Hi guys! Nice to know you are still interested in reading my blog. Hehe
I did not come to this week’s class but I asked around and gathered everything about the class from my classmates.
This week Dr Fariza mentioned that we would head to Putrajaya in two weeks for our photography assignment. For the assignment, we are required to take pictures of anything (probably the scenery and the buildings) and then we have to edit it accordingly to make the picture look nicer and add more features to it. Putrajaya has a lot of beautiful buildings that I have ever seen and there are also a lot of futuristic features everywhere therefore in my opinion, it is the most suitable place for amateur photographers like us to take pictures because we could not possibly take ugly pictures in such place when every corner and aspect of the place is beautiful and on point. I am very excited for this assignment because when I was a kid, I had always been interested in photography and taking pictures was one of the hobbies which later then I go grew up from because of lack of support and proper equipment. But since I have gotten a new phone recently which comes with a really great camera, I am really excited to try it and see how clear the pictures would turn up. And not to mention I would be able to test my editing skills as well.
After that, Dr Fariza continued the class with a lecture about cameras. Dr Fariza showed the class how the cameras from years ago looked like and it was HUGE. I could not imagine how people back then could carry those gigantic (exaggeration haha) devices and take pictures with it. I imagine the quality of the pictures would not be so great compared to what we have now but pretty sure it was really awesome for them since there were not exposed to what technologies have achieved today yet. But back in those days, everything was big for example telephones. I still remember when my father showed his first ever mobile phone that was bigger than my head and he would carry it around in his briefcase because it was too big to be kept in his pockets. Anyway, Dr Fariza then shared with the class some of her personal pictures taken during her trips while discussing the techniques she used to capture those moments.
Pixilation and aperture was taught and from what I have learned, pixilation influences the quality of pictures and aperture is related to lights as in the smaller the aperture, the bigger the opening and the better the lighting. Thus, from my understanding, aperture is an opening through which light travels through and helps with the focus. Pixilation of a picture should be high or the pictures might be distorted and becomes unclear. Dr Fariza also mentioned that during the trip, zooming into one place is not necessary and we should just bring the object to the camera or get closer to it. Knowing all these would really help me with my assignment later during our trip to Putrajaya because I would be able to take better pictures with better quality. I am disappointed that I missed this week’s class but I am glad that I have such amazing classmates that would share their knowledge with me.
Thanks for reading!
